MPLS is a complex, yet highly efficient protocol used within ISP networks. Unlike traditional routing protocols like RIP, OSPF, and BGP that operate on Layer 3, MPLS functions at Layer 2.5, utilizing labels for routing decisions. This unique approach offers enhanced performance over other protocols.

For ISPs, MPLS deployment brings numerous advantages, including features like Layer 3 VPNs through VRF, Layer 2 VPNs with VPLS, and Traffic Engineering Tunnels, among others.

In this course, I will introduce you to MPLS from the ground up. We'll start by explaining what MPLS is and how it operates. From there, we'll dive into practical LABS, covering a comprehensive range of MPLS topics.

The course will cover the following key topics:

  • Introduction to MPLS
  • MPLS Basics, MPLS Labels and MPLS Filtering
  • MPLS Layer3 VPN - VRF
  • MPLS Layer 2 VPN - VPLS
  • MPLS Traffic Engineering

The entire course is based on hands-on LABS, so by end you will have an understanding of how to deploy MPLS in your ISP using MikroTik routers.

To effectively participate in this course, we recommend using GNS3, as some LABS will require up to 7 MikroTik Routers. However, if you have access to physical routers, you're welcome to use them for a more hands-on experience.
